Music of Chopin in a New Dimension – Art Box Experience invites you to immersive piano concerts

The immersive exhibition Romantic Chopin is currently open at Art Box Experience, located in Warsaw’s Norblin Factory. It is the first multimedia project of this scale in Poland dedicated to Fryderyk Chopin, created in collaboration with the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. For the next two Sundays, this immersive journey will be accompanied by live piano concerts taking place on 19 and 26 October at 4:00 PM.

This is a unique opportunity to experience Chopin’s music performed live in a space where art, sound, and cutting-edge technology come together. Each concert will be preceded by a guided tour of the exhibition, after which guests will gather in the immersive hall to hear the most beautiful works of the Romantic master. Performing on stage will be two young, talented pianists recommended by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute: Maria Moliszewska (19 October) and Kamila Sacharzewska (26 October).

Maria Moliszewska is a pianist affiliated with the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz and a laureate of numerous international piano competitions held in Szafarnia, Siedlce, the Czech Republic, and Malaysia. She has performed in Poland, Germany, Israel, France, and Greece. Her interpretations are known for their sensitivity and technical precision. While her repertoire spans works from all eras, Fryderyk Chopin’s music holds a special place.

Programme for 19 October includes:

  • Waltz in A minor, Op. 34 No. 2
  • Mazurka from Polonaise in F-sharp minor, Op. 44
  • Mazurka in F-sharp minor, Op. 59 No. 3
  • Mazurka in B-flat major, Op. 17 No. 4
  • Nocturne in C-sharp minor, Op. 27 No. 1
  • Mazurka in A-flat major, Op. 59 No. 2
  • Etude in F major, Op. 10 No. 8
  • Ballade in A-flat major, Op. 47
  • Prelude in C minor, Op. 28 No. 20
  • Prelude in C-sharp minor, Op. 45
  • Sonata in B-flat minor, Op. 35 – 1st movement

Kamila Sacharzewska is a pianist studying at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (in the class of Janusz Olejniczak and Joanna Ławrynowicz-Just). She is a laureate of many international piano competitions held in Texas, Milan, Moscow, Vilnius, Riga, Budapest, Košice, Szafarnia, Paris, and Ústí nad Labem. She has performed in Canada and in more than a dozen countries across Europe, including Germany, Spain, France, Denmark, Belgium, and Italy. She is a recipient of scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the “Young Poland” programme, and the National Children’s Fund.

Programme for 26 October includes:

  • Waltz in E-flat major, Op. 18
  • Mazurkas, Op. 24
  • Funeral March – 3rd movement of Sonata in B-flat minor, Op. 35
  • Polonaise in F-sharp minor, Op. 44

These concerts at Art Box Experience offer a special opportunity to connect with Chopin’s music in a space that encourages focus, reflection, and emotional immersion, while also exploring the story of his life through sound and image.

Romantic Chopin – an exhibition that blends art, technology and emotion

The idea for the exhibition emerged in 2023. Its creators – the Art Box Experience team and experts from the Fryderyk Chopin Institute – aimed to create a space that presents the life and work of the composer in an accessible and moving way, both for seasoned music lovers and for those discovering his music for the first time.

Visitors move through eight themed rooms that tell the story of Chopin’s life and career – from his family home in Żelazowa Wola, through Warsaw and Vienna, to Paris, the city of his greatest achievements. The visual layer is based on carefully selected materials, including paintings by Canaletto, period illustrations, and over 50 hand-painted watercolours by Beata Musiał-Tomaszewska, animated using stop-motion techniques.

The heart of the exhibition is the immersive hall – a 30-minute show where panoramic projections envelop the viewer, synchronised with Chopin’s music and spatial sound. Rather than presenting a chronological anthology of works, the show tells a coherent, emotional story guided by rhythm, dynamics, and timbre. Poetic, painterly sequences accompany key moments from the composer’s life – from youthful excitement, through exile and longing, to mature reflection. A first-person narration, inspired by Chopin’s letters, adds intimacy – as though the composer himself is guiding the viewer through his world.

The exhibition also features interactive experiences. A life-size cast of Chopin’s hand acts as a “musical sculpture” – when touched, it activates 16 excerpts from his compositions, allowing visitors to “play” alongside the composer. A multimedia “Tree of Inspiration” enables a dialogue with key figures in Chopin’s life (his family, George Sand, Liszt, Mickiewicz), and in the VR room created by Platige Image, guests embark on a poetic journey from Paris, through the Vistula landscapes, to a symbolic cosmos – where music transcends space and time.

The final space is devoted to the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition – one of the world’s most prestigious musical events. It features audiovisual materials, archival footage, and memories of past laureates who continue the legacy of the composer.

Romantic Chopin is on view at Art Box Experience in Norblin Factory until 31 January 2026. The exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive educational programme for children and youth, as well as guided tours for families and adults.
