Three eras in one place! This summer and autumn, Art Box Experience takes you from Art Nouveau and the 1920s to Romanticism.
The 'Retro Warsaw' exhibition returns in a new edition, 'Alphonse Mucha – The Magic of Art Nouveau' continues to enchant, and 'Romantic Chopin' arrives in autumn. Summer and autumn 2025 at Art Box Experience offers a true journey through the eras, from the Belle Époque's charm, to interwar Warsaw's daily rhythm, and the spirituality of Romanticism and Frédéric Chopin's music. All of this takes place in the heart of Norblin Factory, where technology meets art, offering visitors an immersive cultural experience.
Retro Warsaw is a project that aims to recreate the pre-war city
On 15 June, one of the most moving exhibitions of recent years, ‘Retro Warsaw’, returned to Art Box Experience at Norblin Factory in Warsaw. Enriched with new elements exhibition will be open every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday until 9 September 2025. This is a unique opportunity to experience the pre-war capital's daily life and feel the city's rhythm through cutting-edge technology. "Retro Warsaw" is a unique multisensory story about the capital from the 1920s and 1930s, created on the basis of about 200 digitally reconstructed and coloured archival materials. Immersive 360° projections allow viewers to experience the vibrant life of Warsaw as if they were actually there. They can walk through the streets, visit clubs, cinemas and markets, and peek into neighbourhoods, buildings and factories that no longer exist. The creators from the Platige Image studio, world-class special effects specialists, are responsible for the extraordinary visual layer. The soundtrack was created by Jan Emil Mlynarski, a musician and researcher of Warsaw sounds, who uniquely captures the atmosphere of the pre-war capital.
The reorganisation of the space has given the exhibition a new dimension. In the cinema room, four additional screens show documentary films about pre-war Warsaw. The combination of three rooms has created an immersive space in which viewers can experience unique photos and animations. The Adria Club is a venue with a rich history dating back to the 1920s and 1930s, when it was a popular destination for night-time entertainment. The animated photographs and a specially animated floor resembling a revolving dance floor, combined with an atmospheric bar, stylish tables and themed menu, will transport guests to the atmosphere of those years. A screening will also take place at the Splendid Cinema, where remastered film previews from the FINA (Filmoteka Narodowa Instytut Audiowizualny) archive and movie posters from the era will be on display.
Mariusz Zając work, which includes the reconstruction and colourisation of archival materials using modern technology and artificial intelligence, has been recognised in the field. His work is showcased in the exhibition, which features animated figures of iconic movie stars of the time, including Hanka Ordonówna, Jadwiga Andrzejewska and Eugeniusz Bodo, among many others. Visitors can also explore the influence of pre-war fashion on modern trends in a dedicated exhibition. The final space of the exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to experience an interactive ride around Pilsudski Square. A retro bicycle and an animated panorama provide visitors with the chance to feel like participants in the everyday life of old Warsaw.
The partners of the exhibition are: the History Meeting House, the Museum of Warsaw, the Warsaw Rising Museum, and the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
The exhibition will also be accompanied by a special event, entitled 'Percentage of History - Retro Warsaw with Tasting'. After a journey along the cobbled streets of the virtual capital, guests will be invited to an intimate tasting of three selected offerings from Podol Wielki. Podol Wielki is one of the last agricultural distilleries in Poland, whose tradition dates back to the 19th century. The first of the series of events is scheduled for 23 June.
Alphonse Mucha - The Magic of Art Nouveau continues until September 14
The exhibition ‘Alphonse Mucha - The Magic of Art Nouveau’ is also being presented simultaneously with ‘Retro Warsaw’, after its success in Paris and Tokyo also delighted the Polish public. Starting June 18, it will be available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. This first immersive presentation of the Belle Epoque master's work in Poland allows viewers to move into the world of Art Nouveau through images, sounds, smells and multimedia installations. The exhibition presents Mucha's work in three acts: from his iconographic posters, to his monumental works from the time of EXPO 1900, to his patriotic ‘Slav Epic’. Viewers can take a virtual visit to the artist's Paris atelier and learn about his inspirations and influence on contemporary pop culture, from animation to video games to street art and tattooing.
The exhibition is accompanied by a program of special events: yoga workshops with the Selflove brand and perfume workshops with the Slou Lab brand, which allow you to go even deeper into the Art Nouveau atmosphere and philosophy of beauty of Mucha's work.
‘Romantic Chopin’ - a multisensory journey in the footsteps of the genius of Romanticism
Autumn at the Art Box Experience promises to be exciting. The immersive exhibition ‘Romantic Chopin’ will premiere on September 19. Its partner is the Fryderyk Chopin National Institute. This is the first exhibition of its kind to combine modern technology with classical music, offering viewers a deeply personal journey through Chopin's life and work while paying tribute to one of the greatest composers of the Romantic era. The exhibition will take viewers on an engaging journey in Chopin's footsteps - through sounds, emotions and images - creating a complete artistic experience. Based on his works, letters and historical context, the exhibition will immerse you in the world of Frederic Chopin, from his family manor in Żelazowa Wola, through the salons of Warsaw and the turmoil of his life in Vienna, to the artistic bohemia of Paris. This is the story of his life, music, love and struggles.
The exhibition will be divided into eight carefully designed thematic spaces. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore Chopin's artistic milieu and meet such figures as George Sand, Eugène Delacroix, Honoré de Balzac, Ferenc Liszt and Adam Mickiewicz. Among the attractions will be an interactive musical sculpture that will allow a symbolic "touch" of Chopin's compositions, as well as a visualization in the immersive room, where for three quarters of an hour viewers will be able to delve into the artist's biography through his letters and music. An interactive tree featuring Chopin's mentors and inspirational figures, created using elements of artificial intelligence, will allow for a personal interaction with individuals from the composer’s closest circle – his family, friends, and the love of his life, George Sand.
The Platige Image studio has also prepared a VR experience through which visitors will move from a modern city through the interior of a piano to outer space, observing how Chopin's music resonates with successive generations. The exhibition is crowned by a room dedicated to the Chopin Competition - its history, its laureates and its role in popularizing Chopin's music around the world.
In connection with the start of ticket presales on June 18, Art Box Experience has prepared a contest in which a double ticket can be won for the 1st concert of the winners of the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, taking place on October 21, 2025, at the Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw. Participation in the contest is voluntary and available exclusively through the application form on the website: www.artboxexperience.com
‘Romantic Chopin’ is a unique opportunity to discover the composer's life and work anew - through modern forms of narrative, technology and artistic excitement. This summer and fall, Art Box Experience invites you to immerse yourself in the diversity of culture - from the Art Nouveau visions of Alphonse Mucha, to the colorful and multifaceted life of interwar Retro Warsaw, to the romantic tones of Chopin.
